2025 LegisGator Luncheon Celebrates 20 Years of Connecting Leaders and Lawmakers in SWLA

The Chamber SWLA and Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance hosted the 20th Annual LegisGator Luncheon on Friday, August 15, at L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles. LegisGator is the largest event of its kind in Louisiana, uniting state and federal leaders, business executives, and community stakeholders to discuss policy priorities and recognize legislative champions.

Scott Walker, President & CEO of the Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance, welcomed the over 900 attendees and reflected on the region’s resilience, innovation, and growing economic opportunities. “This year’s LegisGator Luncheon provided a clear reminder that when policymakers, industry leaders, and communities work together, we build a stronger, more competitive Southwest Louisiana,” said Walker.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry; U.S. Senators Bill Cassidy and John Kennedy; and U.S. Representatives Clay Higgins and Julia Letlow delivered keynote updates on legislative progress at both the state and federal levels, covering infrastructure, energy policy, tax reform, and coastal resilience.

The luncheon also served as a platform to honor legislators whose work has directly impacted Southwest Louisiana’s business climate and quality of life. For the record, the Chamber does not endorse candidates, but they do support a strong pro-business legislative and policy agenda.

Special awards included:

Co-LegisGators of the Year Award: Sen. Franklin Foil and Rep. Julie Emerson – for leadership in tax reform, capital outlay investments, and economic competitiveness.

Chair’s Award: Rep. Ryan Bourriaque – for leadership on transportation reform and infrastructure improvements.

Rising Star Award: Rep. Jacob Landry – for strengthening Louisiana’s energy grid and advocating for the oil and gas industry.

In addition, 40 members of the Louisiana legislature were honored with a Leadership Award for supporting the pro-business agenda of the Chamber Southwest Louisiana and its economic development partners.

The program also welcomed elected officials from across Louisiana, regional economic development leaders, representatives from Fort Polk and the Louisiana Armed Forces Alliance, higher education leaders from McNeese State University and SOWELA Technical Community College, and statewide business association leaders.

This event is made possible through the generosity of Title Sponsor, L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles; and Presenting Sponsors, CITGO, Sasol, and Woodside Energy; as well as the many “Golden Gator” and “Bayou Backer” sponsors who made the day possible.
